News (Research Updates)
Follow paper announcements from journals on X, filtered by journal and time
Overview
News (X-News) collects recent posts from connected journal accounts on X, formerly Twitter. It keeps only posts with paper cards, bringing research announcements from journals such as Nature, Science, and Cell into one place.
A background synchronization job updates the data. Open /x-news to view the paper feed currently available.
Entry points
In the research sidebar, open “More → Research News” to see paper updates, or go directly to the News page. In the legacy interface, use the tool navigation in the top bar.
News groups posts with paper cards by journal and provides time-window and journal filters.
Core features
Journal filters
The sidebar lists the journal X accounts currently connected. View journals individually or in combination. Common groupings include:
- CNS — Cell / Nature / Science
- Chemistry — JACS / Angewandte Chemie / Nature Chemistry
- Robotics — Science Robotics
Paper cards
Each post includes:
- Paper title and abstract preview
- Journal and post publication time
- A link to the original post, which opens X
- A DOI or publication-page link, if present in the post
Time window
By default, the page shows papers from the most recent N days, controlled from the top bar. Change the time range to see older posts.
Data sources and limitations
- Posts are retrieved from configured journal accounts through twitterapi.io.
- A background synchronization job updates the data regularly. The synchronizer does not start by default in local development.
- Only posts with paper cards are kept. General notices, job listings, events, and similar posts are not added to the database.
- The default view covers a recent time window. Access to older data depends on the time ranges currently offered and the server's retention policy.
Frequently asked questions
Why are some journals missing?
We select journals that have an official X account and post paper announcements. Some journals distribute updates only through RSS or email and are outside this system. Suggestions for additional journals are welcome.
Are the posts in Chinese or English?
They are shown in their original language, all in English. Journals almost always publish paper announcements on X in English.
How does this differ from Search?
News is passive discovery: view journals' recent paper announcements in reverse chronological order and discover research you did not know about. Search is active retrieval: find literature using specific keywords.
